Volunteering

Rail Story relies on volunteers to run the museums and railway on a daily basis.  We are always looking for new volunteers to join us so we can continue to offer a high class services to the public.

Various opportunities are available:
Carriage restoration. 
Helping to run the shop and the Museum.
Joining the Magazine Room team.
Looking after our Museum visitors - a way to meet and talk to people.
For those who can only give armchair support we value your interest expertise and your input through letters and emails.

We are always seeking additional volunteers to become involved with our locomotive restoration and operation, further the work of our museum and archive collection, or welcome visitors and assist in our shop.
No specific skill or knowledge is required, for training, mentoring, or guidance will be provided in any of the activities you may wish to pursue.

The volunteers operate the train service, run the stations and staff our shops and catering outlets. Other volunteers do a variety of maintenance work ranging from gardening and painting, keeping the gas lights in working order, through to laying track and rebuilding locomotives and carriages.  Training will be offered so if you want to be involved please contact us.
